Donald Trump Tweeted About Helping Women Reach Their “Full Potential,” and The Internet Is Not Amused

Well, there are lots of jokes but people are mostly annoyed.

President Trump‘s latest attempt to prove that he really really does like women, he loves women, he’s the best guy for women everywhere, women love him, OK? seems to have fallen… a bit flat.

On Thursday night Trump tweeted that, “only by enlisting the full potential of women in our society will we be truly able to 🇺🇸.” (This followed the Senate passing a bill — thanks to VP Mike Pence‘s tie-breaking vote, no less — which allows states to withhold federal “family planning” funding from Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.) An Instagram video linked alongside the tweet features what looks like an infomercial for women in the workforce, and his address during the Women’s Empowerment Panel at the White House:

It didn’t go down so well on Twitter, with social media users not letting Trump forget some of the extremely lewd and offensive comments he’s made about women in the past:

(These images are from a photo series featuring women sharing Trump’s worst quotes about women.)

Of course, the executive order meme made an appearance as well:
