The Minister of National Planning, Dr
Abubakar Sulaiman, has urged Nigerians to
remain law-abiding and refuse to be used by
any power-seeking group or individuals to
cause crisis.
This is contained in a statement in Abuja on
Tuesday by the Special Assistant to the
Minister on Media, Mr Abdulrahman
Abdulrauf.
The minister, who said that the nation was
going through tough times, pointed out that
Nigerians required tolerance, patience,
perseverance and patriotism to overcome
the challenges.
“I urge Nigerians to remain peaceful and
refuse to be incited by any power-seeking
group or individuals.
“We can’t afford another war at this critical
moment of our life because that won’t do us
any good.
“If anything, the president should be
commended for still ensuring the nation
remains one amidst our myriad of
challenges.’’
Sulaiman said that the economic, political
and social challenges facing the country
were not peculiar to Nigeria, stressing that
they were global problems.
“Yes, there are challenges bordering mainly
on economic, political and even social
issues.
“They are challenges that are everywhere
across the globe and we will have our own
fair share of these in 2015, both as a nation
and as a people.
“But one thing I can assure you is that all
these challenges will bring out the best in us
and restore our hope as a people.
“And like I have always insisted, our current
security challenge is beyond President
Jonathan.
“As individuals in government and outside
government, we have a role to play in all of
this,’’ the minister said. (NAN)
