Nollywood star actress Iyabo Ojo, recently won an award for excellence in Community Leadership in Mental Health Promotion at the annual International award organized by International Association of Psychiatric Nurses of Nigeria (IAPNN). The Conference tagged ‘New Jersey 2014’ was held at the Holiday Inn and Suites 707 US Highway 46 East, Parsippany from May 28 to 30 2014).
The association recognized the good work in her latest movie ‘SILENCE’ which provides a good knowledge base and increases awareness in our Society, IAPNN appreciates this as a mental health initiative.
The International Association of Psychiatric Nurses of Nigeria is a charity organization growing from handful of professionals into a global organization of over 2000 members worldwide. The association was founded in London in August 2003 by a number of Nigerian Registered Psychiatric Nurses in a rather informal gathering. This group later visited Houston, Texas, USA in
November 2003 to initiate Strategies to liaise with colleagues across the world and develop the Modus operandi to achieve the goals of the association. Guided by principle of self-determination and united actively to pursue a positive focus to improve all facets of mental health care services in Africa. their goal is to positively impact upon mental health of mother Africa with possible effect upon the mental health of Black communities across the globe. The association is designed to support quality delivery of care and services, improvement and innovation in mental health care services in Africa.
