Nigerian Becomes First African President of Graduate Law Society at UCL

by

A Nigerian, Gbemisola Osadua, has become the first African to be elected president of the Graduate Law Society at University College, London.

Osadua disclosed her emergence as president of the society in a post on Facebook, stating that the election process had 7 presidential candidates who jostled for the position to lead a postgraduate cohort drawn from over 70 nationalities.

According to her, the election involved “4 weeks of intense campaign — speeches, manifestoes, sharing policy, program plans and frameworks.”

A graduate of law from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, she was the first female presidential candidate at the institution when the Students’ Union was restored after a decade suspension in the 2010/2011 academic session.
