A Nigerian pilot, Captain Ademilola Odujinrin is set to be the first African pilot to fly around the world in a specially configured single Cirrus aircraft.
The flight which is billed to take him to major cities in the world will commence and end in Nigeria.
Capt. Odujinrin, who disclosed this while speaking at a media briefing to announce the First Africa Solo Flight Round the World at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), Lagos, revealed that about 114 pilots have flown round the world but that no African pilot has done it.
Demilola said he’s currently undergoing physical and psychological training to prepare him for the challenges of operating a flight without any assistance for six weeks. The operation will cost about a million dollars according to Transcend project, who are supporting the project.
He however added that, “It is a dream that we have been working very hard to achieve. No African has done it before .It is a big achievement.”
