About A Time In Tulipsia
‘A Time In Tulipsia’ by Floyd Igbo is a musical is set in a fictitious town called Tulipsia – a name derived from the corruption of the tulip Flower. As the story unfolds, Princess Rosie seeks to break the norms of the aristocracy by dallying with a poor Chimmney-sweep cum Poet, Jackie. While Rosie’s parents seek the truth, Rosie seeks freedom and Jackie, love. Against all odds they must seek to attain their desires. The play raises issues of class struggle, the need to bridge the gap between the rich and poor, to shun segregation, nepotism among other corrupt practices so that life may be as beautiful as the tulip. In addition to the spectacular dance routines of the extravaganza, the musical brings forth The performance of about 25 musical numbers, some of which are original songs by the author and others, songs that have received tumultuous applause on the Broadway stage.
About the Author of A Time in Tulipsia
Floyd Igbo is currently a Masters student of the department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan. He is an avid student of the Arts who loves to get his feet in almost all aspects of the theatrical world. He is skilled in playwriting (writer of three plays) musical composition, (for several stage plays and student films), Acting, choreographing routines of diverse genres, Fine Arts and art criticism. He has featured in several play productions across Nigeria under veteran directors including: ‘Tunde Awosanmi, Ojo Bakare, Barclays Ayakoroma, Babalola Smart among others. He has won a couple of artistic awards but he is not wont to resting on his laurels.
