Pakistani al-Qaida Leader, Adnan Shukrijumah Killed

Al-Qaida commander Adnan Gulshair el Shukrijumah
was reportedly killed by the Pakistani military on
Saturday near the Afghanistan border, an operation
eliminating a top FBI target. Read more from UPI:
The Pakistani military claimed to have killed
him in a raid of a tribal region near the
Afghanistan border.
Shukrijumah was one of the most
knowledgeable about American society after
living in the United States for 15 years. He
moved from Saudi Arabia with his Muslim
cleric father to Brooklyn and then Florida. He
was named in the 2009 indictment for the
plot to bomb the New York City subway.
He was also said to have discussed plots
against the New York Stock Exchange, Times
Square and a Walmart store.
Shukrijumah was said to have taken the
position of chief of “external operations
council” in 2010 — a role previously held by
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed , the mastermind
of the 9/11 attacks who is currently being
held in Guantanamo Bay.
His death marks one in a series of fallen al-
Qaida leaders and further decimation of the
group that has taken hits through drone
strikes, raids and targeted assassinations.
He topped the FBI’s “Most Wanted List” and
the United States had a $5 million bounty for
his capture.
