SSS arrests man posing as woman on social media, others for fraud

Two alleged internet fraudsters including one
who specialises in using social media, disguised
as a lady to defraud people have been arrested
by the Sokoto State command of the State
Security Service. Lawrence Erhun, 20, the
Director said, specialised in using social media
such as Badoo.com, posing as a lady to defraud
people.
Among them was one Mr. Engogo
Ediseimokumor, who allegedly impersonated
Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto
State to defraud people. The suspect, aged 28,
was said to have specialised in creating
Facebook accounts in the names of high profile
personalities in the country, using them to
defraud people in the name of securing jobs for
them.
Parading the suspects, the state Director of DSS,
Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim said they have
recovered N1.5 million from two of his accounts,
suspected to be part of the money deposited by
his victims.
Also, Mansur Musa, 17, based in Sokoto, was
arrested by the command for defrauding one
Maryam Ibrahim of the sum of N225,000.
According to Ibrahim, the suspect called his
victim, disguising as a spirit who wanted to help
her overcome her academic problems.
The DSS warned others involved in such
fraudulent acts to desist or risk arrest.
