‘Why PDP Cannot Impeach Tambuwal’



HOUSE Deputy Minority Leader, Abdurrahman
Kawu Sumaila, has said PDP lacks the
wherewithal to push through any plan to
impeach Speaker of the House of
Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
In a media briefing at his residence in Kano,
Friday, Sumaila said PDP lacks political and
numerical strength to start impeachment
He said: “You need to have not less than 240
members of the House before you can start
such process. Two third of the total House
number is 240. In a parliament that has 360
members, we, from the opposition party, are
more than 160, and there are few members
from smaller parties. So, how can you get two
over three of the total number?”
According to him, the era of PDP will come to
an end May 29, 2015.
He also flayed withdrawal of the Speaker’s
security aides, describing the move as flagrant
disregard for constitutional provisions.
“It is the duty of security agencies to secure
Nigerians and institutions. They are not meant
to only protect a particular party or members of
a particular political party. What is happening is
a manifestation of high level of impunity,” he
